Kai Taraporevala

PARTNER
Kai Taraporevala, Partner, 45, spent nearly three years with Lazard India after graduating in December 1994 from INSEAD with an MBA, before setting up IAP in 1998.
At Lazard India Kai advised numerous international clients on India entry strategy and M&A transactions as well as assisted Indian companies expanding overseas. In 1997 he left Lazard to start consulting for international clients from U.K., Europe, Japan and the US on their India corporate finance needs.
Kai has an MSc in Physics from IIT Delhi and an MS in Material Science from Dundee University, Scotland. Kai supports the expansion of Rugby Union in India and has played Rugby for club sides in India, Scotland and France.
James Winterbotham

PARTNER
James Winterbotham, Partner, 51, was a main Board Director of Lazard from 1995 until 1998 when he established IAP.
After taking an MA in History at Cambridge University and an M Phil at the Courtauld Institute in London, he joined Lazard’s London M&A division in 1982, also spending time in the Fund Management Division and in Lazard’s Paris office. From 1993 to 1995 he was based in New Delhi as President of Lazard's Indian joint venture, managing the emerging M&A business. Among other deals he put together the sale of the last Indian assets of Union Carbide, a complex and politically challenging transaction which was then the largest M&A transaction witnessed in India.

Sridar Swamy

Sridar Swamy, Partner, 43, joined IAP in August 2005. Previously, he worked with Lazard India for 8 years including a period with Lazard London.
He advised a number of international companies on entry strategies and M&A transactions in India. From 1999 to 2004 he worked with KPMG India as Director – Corporate Finance, where he was responsible for various corporate finance and M&A transactions. In 2004 he moved to Taj (Indian Hotels, one of the largest hotel chains in India) heading the M&A function, where he was responsible for the acquisition of a prestigious New York hotel.
Mandar Gadkari

VICE PRESIDENT
Mandar Gadkari, Vice President, 29, worked with ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company's Real Estate Fund for more than six months before joining IAP. He also spent more than four years with Ernst and Young, KPMG (Dubai), and RSM & Co. Mandar has experience in group restructuring, corporate re-organisation, acquisitions, and other business advisory services.
Mandar is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has also has successfully completed all three levels of the CFA program from the CFA Institute, U.S.A.
Shashikant Wavhal

Shashikant Wavhal, CFA, joined IAP after spending nearly four years with Portfolio Management Division of UTI AMC Ltd. At UTI he specialized in analyzing mid-cap and small cap companies across a range of sectors. He also helped in managing various funds targeted towards domestic high net worth investors and foreign institutional clients.
Shashikant has an MBA in Finance from Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIM-L) and CFA Charter from the CFA Institute, U.S.A.
Edward Nissen

Eddie Nissen, 24, joined IAP having completed a BA in Ancient History at Bristol University, UK.
David Anderson

SENIOR ADVISOR
David Anderson, 53, joined IAP as a Senior Advisor in January 2009. David has a first class degree in Mathematics and Philosophy from Oxford and after 5 years in the British Army joined Lazard in London in 1983. He became a director in 1990 and managing director in 1997. He ran the Asian business for Lazard in Singapore from 1998 to 2000 and then joined Vodafone as head of mergers and acquisitions. He was a managing director at JP Morgan Cazenove in London from 2002 to 2008 with a particular focus on telecoms, media and technology.
Gaurav Marathe

Gaurav Marathe, 38, was head of the Private Equity and M & A transaction group at Almondz Global Securities Limited from 2006 to January 2009. He joined Almondz in 2004 in the Corporate Finance - Debt division in Delhi. At Almondz, he was part of several large fund raising deals in the Power and FMCG sectors. Gaurav moved from Debt Syndication to Capital Markets in 2005 and worked in the compliance and execution team. In 2006, he started the Private Equity and M & A transaction group and successfully built a sizeable business. While heading this practice he concluded transactions in Healthcare, Retail, and Infrastructure sectors. He also advised clients in FMCG, Hospitality, Real estate and Oil & Gas sectors. Gaurav is a certified chartered accountant and holds a BSc in Chemistry.
Dhruv Luthra

VICE PRESIDENT
Dhruv Luthra, Vice President, 33, moved to IAP’s London office after spending two years with the Firm in Mumbai. As part of the Corporate Finance team, Dhruv helps execute buy and sell mandates as well as market entry strategies for international companies. Before joining IAP, Dhruv spent one year with an international investment firm, helping set up a domestic fund management business. Prior to that he spent six years with KPMG Consulting in Washington, D.C. where he helped telecom and financial services clients with corporate strategy and process improvement projects. Dhruv has a B.A. Economics from Cornell University and is currently reading for his Executive MBA from the London Business School.
Subhash Jangid

Subhash Jangid, Associate, 30, worked for Deloitte & Touche for nearly six years prior to joining IAP. At Deloitte & Touche, Subhash was part of a transaction advisory team that focussed on execution of transactions across industry verticals. At IAP he has continued his work on mergers and acquisitions, valuations, and market entry strategies. Subhash is also part of a team that advises Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) on their Indian investment strategy.
He is a Chartered Accountant and a CFA Level I candidate.
Minal Worah

Minal Worah, Associate, 36, worked for JL Morison (an Indian marketing company) and Triton Communications (an advertising agency) primarily in the field of marketing and client servicing prior to joining IAP in 2000. Minal has an MBA in marketing from K. J. Somaiya Institute, Mumbai.
Shreyas Yajnik

Shreyas Yajnik, 27, is an Associate in the investment banking team of India Advisory Partners. Previously he was an Investment Banker with Lehman Brothers (subsequently acquired by Nomura) in New York and Mumbai from 2006 to 2009. At Lehman Brothers, Shreyas advised a number of large corporate and private equity clients in the U.S., India and the Middle East in M&A and capital raising efforts. Prior to that, Shreyas was an Investment Banker with Royal Bank of Canada in New York. Shreyas received his Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University in New York.

Saurabh Chugh, Associate, 30, joined IAP after spending more than three years working in capital markets for various firms. Saurabh specializes in identifying investment opportunities in the Information Technology and Infrastructure sectors. He has MBA in Finance from Nirma Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Shahil Shah, Associate, 30, has a Masters in Commerce and Finance from Mumbai University. He is a qualified Chartered Financial Analyst, India. Shahil specialises in identifying and analyzing small and mid-cap Indian companies for investment by IAP’s fund.
Aneesh Hosangadi

Aneesh Hosangadi, 39, Vice President, Compliance and Accounts. Aneesh worked with Suresh Surana & Associates (a member of RSM International) for more than 8 months before joining IAP. He completed his articleship at A.F.Ferguson & Co. Aneesh specializes in statutory, internal, operational audits, concurrent audits, Internal Control Framework, and other management consultancy assignments. He has worked with various industries including pharmaceuticals, textile, banking, hospitality, and advertisement. Aneesh is a successful candidate for Final Group I – Chartered Accountancy, ICAI.
